Hack your Circadian Rhythm using lighting to get a better night's sleep for a lifetime

We've all done it once or twice: stayed up far, far too late because we're not tired, watching episode after episode of TV, then glancing at the clock and realising we're still not sleepy even at midnight. Late nights mean lie-ins, and so we repeat the process again that evening.

The struggle is down to the connection between light and our Circadian Rhythm––the body's internal clock that tells us when it's time to go to bed and wake up in the morning. It develops over a lifetime, using the colour of the light around us to tell the difference between daytime and evening.

We disturb our Circadian Rhythm by watching TV and using our phones at night. The blue light emitted by screens mimics natural sunlight, telling our bodies that we should be wide awake, no matter what the clock says.

At 4lite we use state-of-the-art smart lighting to solve this problem. By implementing our lights, integrated with WiZ connected technology, you can set light levels to not only brighten and dim over the course of the day. As light levels change towards the evening, you can also change the colour of the light to promote wakefulness in the daytime and soothe the eyes in the evening. By surrounding yourself with cool blue interior hues of light in the daytime, you can be more awake in the day, meaning you'll need fewer cups of coffee in the morning to achieve your best productivity levels. Then, when it's time to wind down in the evening, the lights can be set to automatically change to warmer yellow tones, so your eyes can finally relax, ready for a good night's rest.

The best thing about it? It's completely unnoticeable as the lighting gently adjusts the tones and hues of the light - so there's no need to worry about blue and yellow lighting making it feel like you live in an aquarium during the day and a desert at night. Perfect for any room in your house, all day and all night.
