Sustainability

Dedicated to achieving Net Zero

Ansell Lighting is a responsible manufacturer and dedicated to achieving Net Zero.

We led the way when we released our first low-energy LED production in 2004, and reducing the impact of our carbon and waste footprint remains a key priority.

We work closely with our manufacturing partners overseas to ensure they minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment and that they comply with the associated laws and applicable compliance, which has assisted in developing a culture of environmental awareness and mindset of sustainable operation.

On our assembly lines in the UK, we are making great efforts to be waste neutral. We work with like-minded suppliers who are dedicated to offering us sustainable solutions, such as no single use plastic waste and fully recyclable packaging. We recycle as many spare parts as we can including empty bodies and drivers. Whilst any associated plastic packaging is fully recycled through our recycle programme in our warehouse facilities.

The Green Team

Did you know that we have our own Green Team?

Who are they?   A group of environmental champions who promote sustainability within the business, is consistently re-evaluating the way we do things, looking for innovative solutions to reduce waste and challenging us do more with less.

Our Green Wins

  • The majority of all Ansell Lighting products are now packaged in unbleached, fully recycled and recyclable brown cardboard, one of the most environmentally friendly packaging materials, eradicating the use of five million single use plastic bags per year from our protective packaging, we have also ensured fixing kits are now supplied in small paper bags, with biodegradable paper protecting the products.
  • We’ve reduced the carbon footprint of our vehicles. In 2018 there were 39 vehicles in our commercial fleet with an average CO2 of 106.2 g/km. As of today, there are 47 vehicles in total with an average CO2 of 65.7 g/km; a reduction in average CO2 of 36.43 g/km or 34.3% across the fleet operated.
  • We have installed our OCTO connected lighting system in as many parts of our own buildings as possible, taking advantage of daylight harvesting sensors and timers to reduce energy across our sites.
  • On site waste reduction: We have been able to significantly reduce our paper usage and introduced recycle bins across all sites. From a marketing perspective we have switched to bamboo and recycled merchandise where possible.
  • Our company and staff cars are all now either hybrid or fully electric with electric charging points for staff and visitors available on our premises.
